Wim is one of our newest running and spinning instructors. Famous for encouraging our members to sing and shout during his spinning sessions. Or acting crazy during Running Distance. Wim also likes to take our runners to some of the most amazing places in Brussels. Did you know the city has its own Champs Élysées? Or have you ever visited the birthplace of Audrey Hepburn? Our runners have. So yes, at F&S Brussels THE SOCIAL ASPECT IS JUST AS IMPORTANT AS THE EXERCISE.
“Having moved here from Bruges 8 years ago, getting to know other people was a key motivation to become an F&S member. It’s nice to become friends with people from all over the world. That’s really what sets us apart from a traditional gym. Moreover, we don’t compete, and we don’t compare. But in the end, our members do get stronger and better. Simply because they enjoy themselves and keep coming back to our sessions.”
Spinning, like many other F&S sessions, takes place indoors. Whatever your fitness level, you’ll be able to keep up with the groups. So how about running? No need to worry. We have different sessions: from Running Soft, for a more relaxed run, to Running Intervals, which is more intensive. But even then, we manage to keep everyone together, running on the track or focusing on posture and technique. In Running Distance, it might seem a bit more challenging to keep a group together. But rest assured: nobody gets left behind.
“People often think Running Distance is some kind of mini marathon. It’s quite the opposite. Depending on the group, our runs are between 10K and 18K. They’re all about base training. We run at a comfortable talking pace because that’s how you improve aerobic fitness, avoid injuries and … get to talk a lot. After running we often go for a cup of coffee. Hard to make a sports session any more social than this.”
