Everyone in Friskis knows Calle… and if you don’t you really should! I’m serious! It will brighten your day! As one of our beloved hosts, few people better represent everything that Friskis aspires to be! So we definitely wanted to hear his view on his favorite Friskis value: EXERCISE MUST BE FREE FROM DEMANDS ON PERFORMANCE:
Yes, Friskis is non-competitive. That doesn’t mean it cannot represent a challenge, but the one you challenge is yourself. Maybe ‘Last week I couldn’t even reach my ankles, and this week I’m … almost … touching my toes!’ or ‘This week I added a whole kilo to the barbell!’, or simply ‘Yes! I got away from the office in time for a class!’
It’s not about performance, but about being inspired to cross thresholds, and enjoying yourself while you’re doing it. So you come back for more. That’s Friskis.
Friskis is toxic! There should be a sign at every class: ‘Warning! Friskis is highly addictive. You may never want to do any other kind of workout.’
I’m probably a tell-tale example: I’ve been dependent for 25 years, and still can’t help walking away with a smile. Not because I survived a higher load on the bike than ever, or could do one more push-up on my toes, but because I’ve been surrounded for an hour with nice people, all focused on an instructor who knows how to inspire and motivate. Who performs, so I only need to follow.
Now that you’ve heard his thoughts, let’s take a moment to get to know better our lovable host. Calle basically cannot stay away from F&S Brussels! A member since 1996 and a volunteer from a year after that he just cannot get enough of the nice workout with lots of nice people. He feels in good hands with the top-quality instructors F&S offers, and that personal touch makes him walk away with a smile. Originally from Sweden Calle loves to work hard and play hard, always whilst still smiling. We guarantee that whenever you see him, hosting, helping out or enthusiastically participating… he’ll definitely be smiling.
