Friskis team at La Bruxelloise 2020 - Virtual Edition

We are pleased to announce that Friskis will be participating in the 2020 edition of La Bruxelloise, as in previous years.

La Bruxelloise is an initiative (usually a race for women or men dressed as women) held for the benefit of research against breast cancer in partnership with the Fondation Saint-Luc. This year, due to COVID-19 the race will be held as a special virtual edition – but we are still looking forward to participating, given the importance of the race to our club and the personal connection we have to the initiative.

Rather than being one race, this virtual edition will take place over the whole of October. After signing up (see details below) and connecting your Strava account, every kilometre that you track while running or Nordic walking during the month will automatically count towards your distance for the competition. Any kilometres count – whether you’re running with Friskis at one of our outdoor sessions, by yourself, or with friends, they will automatically be added to your total.

True to the festive and competitive tradition of La Bruxelloise, there will be prizes for the people who run the furthest, the photo with the most likes and the groups with the most members. So we hope to having as large a team as possible!

How to register?

Transfer the participation fee of 10 euros to the Friskis bank account:

Please indicate clearly in the message: Bruxelloise + first name + family name of each person you are paying for.

Like every year, the 10 euro participation fee goes towards the Fondation Saint-Luc for research into breast cancer. Due to the exceptional circumstances, Friskis will not be covering the participation fee this year. But every participant will receive a 10 euro voucher valid at Jogging Plus stores in Brussels.

  2. Once the payment is received, we will provide you with the link that you need to enter your personal data within their system.
  3. When you are registered, you will receive an email explaining how to create a Strava account and connect it to track your distance. If there are any problems, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at friskisbxl@gmail.com,

The deadline for registration is 20 October – but obviously the earlier you register, the longer you have to accumulate kilometres.

La Bruxelloise

At Friskis we believe that we are all born natural runners… we just forgot it.  So if you feel like connecting to the root DNA, then we warmly invite you to join the running community of Friskis and elect your preferred session. And let us remind you you that we are offering 8 Running and Nordic Walking Sessions every week:

  • Start to Run on Monday evenings from 19:30-20:15 in Woluwé Park. For beginners who have little to no experience running.
  • Running Quality every Monday (starting in October) and Wednesday in Woluwé Park. These are one-hour sessions which aim to improve your running technique, strength and speed. These sessions are suitable for experienced and regular runners.
  • Running Cross every Thursday (starting in October) from 19.30-20:30 in Woluwé Park and on Saturday at 10:00 am (Place du Luxembourg, 1050 Ixelles). These sessions are a varied, all-around training class where you exercise at various “stations” (benches, up-hills…) and challenge the body in a different way (muscle strength, intervals, …). These sessions are suitable for experienced and regular runners.
  • Running Distance every Sunday at 11:00am in the Forêt de Soignes at the ADEPS center (Waversesteenweg 2057, 1160 Audergem), for experienced and regular runners, it guarantees 90 minutes of fun and fresh air!
  • Nordic Walking takes place on Wednesday at 19:00 at Parc du Woluwe (a few meters away from the “Chien Verts” stop (36, 39, 44) or on Saturdays at 9:30am at 4 bras (4 Armen Tervuren) to discover a new and fun way to stay fit and gradually improve your physical well being.

If you want to excercise your whole life, it must be fun.

Therefore, our excercise affects and challenges our body and minds. We are rather in the experience industry than in the health industry.
