Join Wim on Saturday's at 10 AM in Park du Cinquantenaire and train for the Brussels 20km team!
18 March 2022
Dear Members of Friskis&Svettis Brussels,
Good news! Friskis will yet again have a team of runners and Nordic Walkers to join the Brussels 20k on 29 May 2022. We will provide you with all the necessary information on how to join in later news, as registrations are likely to start in the beginning of April. One thing is sure, Friskis will participate with an enthusiastic team – so please join us!
To run for fun and to be prepared for the Brussels 20k on 29 May 2022, Wim will be giving running distance sessions on Saturday mornings at 10am. The Meeting point will be the usual Merode entrance to Cinquantanaire Park. From there several parks and running routes are easily within reach. You can register for these sessions the usual way via our app or our membership portal on our website.
To prepare for the 20k running you would ideally have 1-2 running quality sessions a week, with intervals that increase your pace and endurance and one running distance session a week to prepare you for a longer distance running. Of course, you can also add other kinds of training, running cross or also indoor classes to build strength, but that is not the priority especially if you are lacking the time.
We have added this Saturday 10am running distance session as an extra alternative to the Sunday running session in the forest. We are aware that not everybody is available to run a longer distance on a Sunday. Foret des Soignes might also not be the ideal location for you. Plus, the Brussels 20k is a city run, so why not train in the streets and parks of Brussels?
The calendar and running distances for these special Saturday sessions is the following:
· 19/3 and 26/3 both days we run around 6k
· 2/4 and 9/4 both days we run around 8k
· 16/4 we run around 10k
· 23/4 we run around 12k
· 30/4 we run around 14k
· 14/5 we run around 16k
… with these and/or other Friskis sessions you will be well prepared for Brussels 20k, or you can run just for fun!
Kind regards,
Wim and the F&S Running Team
