This is how Friskis works

Friskis&Svettis, or Friskis for short, is an easy and fun way to exercise. Friskis offers exercise to music, in a group, led by a trained instructor. It’s simple, affordable and friendly.

Friskis&Svettis means ‘healthy and sweaty’ in Swedish and is open to men and women of all ages and all levels of fitness.

Everyone is welcome. Everyone does as much as they feel able to do. There’s no posing or showing off, no one cares if you have the biggest biceps or the best shoes. It’s about fitness for all in an informal and friendly atmosphere.

Launched in 1978, Friskis is developed by experts on the basis of scientific research, and each class includes a warm-up, mobility, strength and cardio-vascular training, toning down, stretching and relaxation.

35 workouts per week

There are over 35 Friskis workouts per week (each usually an hour), mainly indoor, but also outdoor, at various venues in Brussels.  The classes take place every day of the week, and are available morning, lunchtime and evening. During July and August there are fewer classes – but free of charge – mainly taking place outdoor in the Cinquantenaire Park and once a week indoors.

Friskis offers easy to follow fitness exercises to music, offered in three main intensities: Basic, Medium and Intensive. In addition, classes include Core, Flex, IntervalFlex, Yoga Energy, Dance and Station. Outdoor activities include Nordic Walking and Running, which comes in different varieties, such as Quality and Distance.

If you’re not a member, you can always try one class for free. Once a member, you have unlimited access to all classes, and don’t need to book – just turn up and join in. All you need is comfortable sports clothes, shoes and water.

Friskis&Svettis is run by volunteers

Friskis&Svettis Brussels is a non-profit association, and run entirely by volunteers. This makes membership very good value for money. It has some 600 members. The instructors are trained in Sweden, and regularly assessed.

Friskis is the largest sports organization in Sweden, and exists in many European cities including London, Paris, Luxembourg, Helsinki, Aberdeen, Copenhagen and for more than 25 years in Brussels.

If you want to excercise your whole life, it must be fun.

Therefore, our excercise affects and challenges our body and minds. We are rather in the experience industry than in the health industry.
