Friskis Spotlight: Celebrating our Volunteers

We take this opportunity to celebrate some of our most dedicated Volunteers: Nadine, Magda and Philippe

06 March 2021

As you know, Friskis&Svettis is a sports organization entirely run by volunteers.
And since this week is the Flemish 'week van de vrijwilliger' or 'week of the volunteer', we would like to take this opportunity to thank, first of all, all our volunteers for helping wherever they can, but furthermore to focus on a few of our volunteers who have worked extremely hard for Friskis through the difficult COVID times, and shine a small spotlight on them, by sharing with our members their 'petite histoire' as a way to show our gratitude.

This week we honor our volunteers Nadine, Magda, and Philippe.

Nadine

All volunteer-based organizations need a core of people willing and able to ensure that infrastructure, equipment and finances for its activities are there. A vital part of Friskis Brussels’s core behind the scenes is infrastructure management: managing contracts, negotiate and re-negotiate, finding venues, obtaining permits. We’re lucky, because in our case, her name is Nadine.

For those who have the privilege of knowing her, Nadine’s capacity, responsiveness, integrity and loyalty are legendary. And on top of that, she’s a very nice person! In your case, Nadine, it’s difficult to avoid saying ‘What would we do without you?’. Therefore, let’s not, and hope it stays that way for a long time to come!

Magda

A smile will go a long way, and in Magda’s case, it already took us a thousand miles, and a thousand more! A naturally gifted Friskis instructor with an enthusiasm and professionalism that unfailingly make participants give it all and come back for more. It’s a search for perfection conveyed playfully, and always with that smile.

But there’s more, because Magda also plays a vital role behind the scenes. Inspiring and getting inspiration from her peers, recruiting members and organizing babysitting are just a few of her favorite things.

And there’s even more, as her readiness to help out, stand in and replace leaves you, literally, breathless. An inexhaustible source of power – Please keep it coming!

Philippe

No one left behind! One could imagine it Philippe’s motto as he offers his addictive running and Nordic Walking classes in and around Brussels. Committed to include and motivate all participants to the very end of the class, all he leaves behind is winners. You walk away having outdone yourself, again.

Committed not only to inspire and involve his participants, but also to leaving behind a more sustainable society, Philippe shares his energy and makes participants grow. And his flexibility and readiness to help out make him an invaluable link in our club.

Thanks for being around, Philippe!

We are proud to have this chance to shine a light on these very deserving volunteers, they inspire us to be better and to do better for our entire beloved community. For Friskis&Svettis is more than just a sports organization, it is a community of dedicated people, working together for common cause: to make this world a healthier and happier place.
We are Friskis... these are our volunteers.

Volunteers

If you want to excercise your whole life, it must be fun.

Therefore, our excercise affects and challenges our body and minds. We are rather in the experience industry than in the health industry.
